TIME TO FALL
Marveling at a waterfall, thinking of time.
Constantly unaware of how fast it’s flowing.
Standing still while also drifting away.
The edge is near, I fear
and am simultaneously excited for each second.
Holding power like thieves
stealing away time to fall.
Fall in love, fall for a joke, free falling.
Blue times and cool waters
Praise calm seas and easy days.
In awe, water falls
faster than time can tick.
In defiance of reasoning,
to the edge.
Time for a trust fall.
A MOMent to remember: my daughter wanted to go shopping Downtown Charleston on King Street with some girlfriends by herself. It was a first that I was not sure I was ready for, so I dropped them off, but stayed safely around the corner at waterfront park with my painters palette and a small rolling bag of supplies. What I discovered was the beauty of the park and the enjoyment of the beginning of the tween years. I finished a small study to later take back to my studio and work on this large format. It’s enjoyed a special spot in my private collection and now as I navigate the teen years I have new MOMents to share!
